Oxfam Boutique - Westbourne Grove

Don’t be put off by the word ‘Oxfam’, this boutique is far from the stereotype of old charity shops.
The exterior of this boutique looks classy and sophisticated, it is painted plain black and has the Oxfam logo painted in white. It also has a simple window display of two fashionably dressed mannequins. It is simple but it works. Again it is situated in a wealthy area with fashionable people and is surrounded by nice bars and cafes.
Inside the shop there is an informal environment. Just like the outside, the interior of the shop carries on the theme of black and also has printed wallpaper on some of the walls. There are wooden floors throughout with a large oversized mirror right at the back of the shop. Tables and interesting shelving units are used to display objects as well as the usual rails.
The clothes stocked are mainly all designer labels, clothes from past collections. They had quite a varied range and prices were very reasonable. It is definitely worth making the trip as there are fashionable bargains to be had. I think because it is situated where it is, it is able to stock these high end labels from donations. It is a unique concept because I do not think that there are many places that a boutique like this could be opened. Opening a Oxfam boutique was a smart move, it is in keeping with the area and draws in all types of people. It gives you the chance to look at designer clothes close up in a different environment and enables the average person to own something that they will hold on to for a long time. (Giovanna)
