Dover street market is a well established designer boutique. To me it is a place to go and find inspiration, not only from the amazing clothes but also from the unique layout and instillations throughout the store.
It has a basic concrete floor with the majority of lights being quite plain, although there are a few, for example on the ground floor there is an extravagant red light instillation, that make an exception. Each area is clearly labelled by the designers name in the same way throughout the whole of the store, this makes it easier to find particular designers as you know where to look to find the names. Dover street market did not really convey the feeling of space to me, although it takes up a large area there is a lot crammed in. It is visually exciting everywhere you look and each area has a mini display showing off the talents from each designer.
The atmosphere that I felt when walking in to DSM was not a very nice one. The staff did not seem very friendly and it felt almost as if you were unwelcome if you did not have loads of money to spend. To me this was not a very nice experience at all, but maybe that is because I am not their target market so they are not trying to impress a student for example. Although if I did have lots of money I would not spend it here, I would want to spend it somewhere that values me as a person as well as a customer. It is obvious from the success of this company that there are people out there who do enjoy this type of shopping experience. I get the impression that choosing to shop here means you are choosing to buy in to this lifestyle, it's more than just clothes its a whole different world. (Giovanna)

- Dover street market is a multi brand store that sells extremely expensive garments, shoes, books and jewerelly.
- The store has four floors each presenting different designs and established to represent new London and its youth fashion.
- Supporting many brands they love new creativity and love the extreme and extravagant. Especially the customers, whom most of them are Russian millionaires or rich socialites spending at any cost.
- There most sellable item would from there jewerelly collection ranging from £18,000 to £25,000.
My opinion:
It wasn’t the most comfortable atmosphere for the normal middle class person but if the staff knew you were made of money you were approached in a friendly and polite manner. Greeted as if you were friends, here its not’s ‘money doesn’t buy you love’, but ‘money does by you love’. Dover street market is not for your average fashionista! ( Preeti)
